Hi All,

My new toy finally arrived and was exposed to its first light.

Below are the first images made with the SolarMax II 60mm (15mm BF). I was actually surprised that the flares and surface detail were visible through the eyepiece since I was expecting to having to process the video captures to get those details visible. Granted, the processed image revealed more then what I saw in the eyepiece but still it was there. Also the actual view is a deep red, not orange like what I color balanced in these images, I thought the orange looked better.

The eyepiece that came with the SolMax is a 25mm C-Max, and it wasnt quite enough power to show more then the largest flares and details, but when I used a 7mm, 5mm and the 2.5X TV, the detail was very noticible.

These Images are 1000-1500 frames captured using a DMK41au02. The Full disc was exposed for the surface detail and then for the flares, then combined in Photoshop, the Quarter disc was a single capture.

Thanks for looking.

Mariusz

Very nice start with the new toy.
I really like the orange tone, you can almost feel the heat coming off it.
Good work.
