Reprocessed NGC 3372

Hi everyone,

I've avoided shooting this object until now, as like M42 it seems to have had more hits than Elvis! :lol:

But sooner or later, one must bite the bullet and have a crack at it - something of a rite of Astrophotography passage I suspect.
So here to share is my proper go at Eta Carina from a dark sky site in Kilmore, country Victoria on the long weekend.

24x 600 secs on the SBIG 8300c, Darks, flats etc. processed in Nebulosity, Photoshop and NIK filters. It's big, bright and colourful all right!

On a technical note, I was using the new W/O P-Flat 4 adjustable field flattener/reducer and I notice some eggy stars appearing in the top left hand cnr.
I have a 35 mm spacer in place and the Delta setting on the dial is 75 - looks like it needs more tweaking to get a nice sharp flat field.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Agree, looks good, perhaps a bit to push on the blue channel side (it looks a bit too red) but overall a pretty ETA!

Thanks Marco, really appreciate your comments :thanx: - I've updated and added a reprocessed file. Less punchy stars, less electric colours - a bit more subtle now, perhaps more suited to everyone's taste.

Hi Andy,
that's still very small.
I meant a big photo - 1920px x 1450px & a 3 Megabyte file -
the sort of file you can save on flickr photos as I do.
My screen is a full HD - 1920 x 1080, 27" LED monitor &
I love to fill that screen up & see all the details.
