hi,
I meant to do a tri colour NB image of this area, but the weather's gone sour so managed 1 hour of Ha.
This is below the Gabriel Mistral Nebula and I find this a very interesting area with lots of complex structures.
Hope to add S2 and O3 and more Ha data this week.
Still trying to fix the high fwhm.

Very nice, gotta love f/4! I'm glad I didn't bring my scope that night by the sounds of the wind. Gah Melbourne!

That came out nicely. The neb looks like a giant ear! Nice tight stars and detail in the neb.
It would look good in colour if weather permits.
Greg.

Hi Alistair,
That looks great.
In some ways these Ha pics are more spectacular in terms of detail
than the colour pics.
cheers

thanks, yeah was pretty windy that night which was a shame cause it was clear throughout. maybe next time.
Thanks Mike, I love these nebs with the wisps, only wish I could get it sharper.
Thanks Greg. it does look like a giant ear. Hoping to add a few hours worth of O2 and S3 this weekend.
I'm very happy with how the stars turned out. This was my first where stars are quite tiny given my OTA is home built.
but I don't understand how the fwhm is so high. it was 4.6 or so. during focusing, lowest I got was 3.7.
A friend was getting 5 plus in his ED127 on a G11 from the same site, same night, not sure if its the backlash thats causing the stars to be smudged around.
I'm getting some upgrades happening to pimp my OTA so hope it improves.
I just want it a bit sharper.
Thanks Alan, yeah, Ha has its own appeal and best is its possible all month, moon or no moon.
Thanks Atalas.
Cheers
Alistair
