These are a couple of the better images I took for the first time with my PST. Both images capture with my Olympus C5060WZ at 23mm focal length, afocally though the PST with the standard 20mm Kellner EP. Equivalent focal length = 460mm. ASA=80, f/8.

P721181c is a full size crop from and image captured at 1/60s. Colour balance adjusted and saved for the web with PS CS2.

P7211822c was cropped, colour balance adjusted, and saved for the web at reduced size with PS CS2.

It's a whole new learning curve!;)

Not much activity on the sun, just a few prominences and a couple of areas of plage, but I took advantage of a few gaps in the clouds to grab these and experiment with imaging. These images aren't as sharp as I'd like but I suppose that's just part of the learning curve...

Thanks Ving! I hope to get some sharper images by the time Mercury transits in November.

Nice start Al..far better than my first go

I too found it quite difficult to produce any reasonable solar images with the PST..but it can be done of course, its just getting everything right seems quite a challenge

for the moment I am PST less awaiting an objective lens replacement from Coronado so I'm not exactly getting any practice :(
