Thought I'd upload a couple of photos I took yesterday in Sydney's botanical gardens of Nephila (Golden Orb-weaver) spiders ... and a bit of spidey romance. I've had lunch in the gardens over the last few days and have watched the small male protagonist very very gingerly approaching the big female (who is about 8cm long). Each time he got close, she would twitch and send him scurrying away across the web! He's also covering for the fact that he only has seven legs ... was the lost leg a victim of a first hasty foray into her boudoir?
The third one is of another Nephila having lunch of beetle soup.
Camera was a 60D, 250mm f.l., approx f/13 (can check if anyone wants the exact settings).
