NGC-4945 From Snake Valley.

2.5hrs (10 x 60sec, 10 x 300sec, 8 x 600sec) Didn't quite get the 10, 600 second images in as cloud completely covered the sky.

Taken with a Canon 1100D (unmodded), 8" f/4 Newt.

That surprised me! It has a real 3D effect. Nice photo.

Good work Andrew!

Although 4945 is quite bright it's a bugger of thing to get right.

Cheers,

Justin.

Thanks I would have loved to have gone longer on this, but the cloud had other ideas.

Thanks Trevor, muchly appreciated.

I think I still have a bit of processing to do on this Galaxy, I really don't think I have got it right yet.

Thanks Bob, yep I am really happy with it, although collimating is a bit of a pain, so critical, the scope performs as it should. Should be even better after a few modifications I plan on doing to it.

Appreciate your comments Mike, thankyou. Yes this has to be my second favorite Galaxy, I would love to be able to process it better though, I think there is still a fair amount of data there, I haven't been able to bring out.

Hi Andrew,
Yes it seems you have good data but the processing could be improved.
Processing is difficult - after many years of processing I still struggle
sometimes & end up posting 3 or more versions till I get it right.
Every picture is so unique with it's own challenges that you almost
have to learn how to process each new picture.
I recommend Louie's fantastic videos here:

Hi Andrew,
I hope you don't mind?
I had a play with your picture.
I reduced the brightness & size of the stars &
stretched the galaxies.
I also took colour away from the stars but added more to the galaxies &
raised the black point.
I then did an automatic gradient removal in Fitswork4.
Do you think this looks better?

cheers
Allan
