Hello to all,
after a long period, this is another picture I took Nov 2013 near Nuremberg/Germany.The image was an attempt to see if it is possible to capture fine mist structures with my DSLR camera. At first I thought the picture would certainly be nothing, because most great shots of fine nebulas are usually obtained with a CCD camera. Encouraged by my two Astrofriends Thomas and Stefan, I finally started the experiment with ISO400 and 12min. I collected 5h light and was very surprised that some fog structures appeared.

WOW Claus,

I almost cut myself on those stars, they are so SHARP! :eyepop:

Amazing that a (I assume standard) 600D could grab so much of the filaments without any Ha data, but I suppose the 5 hours helped.

What sort of scope is the NK900? Image optimised Newt?

Very nice picture Claus of a faint area, remarkably done with a DSLR.
I find the stars a bit artificial, I understand you must have used a deconvolutive process to tame them, perhaps I would limit a bit their shrinking but this is subjective on a otherwise excellent image

I tend to agree with Marco here but overall a lovely image! The dust in this field looks almost alive.

I'm really astounded at the boundaries that amateurs are crossing at the moment. I would not have thought that capture would be possible with a DSLR. Really excellent image and you should be stoked Claus.

The NK900 is a imaging optimized Newton telescope, build by myself. It consists of a carbon tube, Orion UK Ultra Grade main (f4.5/900mm) and secondary mirror, a Moonlite focuser and is highly adjustable to perfectly fit different coma correctors (640mm - 1030mm; f3.5 - 5.2). After struggling around the last years with cheap asian products , I decided to build my own newton to satisfy my needs. :thumbsup:
