Hi all would like to hear any suggestions on a good CCD camera for deepsky/planetary imaging whether mono or colour. have a gstar ex2 but not really happy with it. Have been using 5d 3 with no complaints but its time to step it up a bit. Running a 10" Sky watcher, NEQ6, Orion autoguider cam various eyepices and barlows 3x Televue etc

Iam looking at $2000 budget and have been sniffing around some lower end SBIG

Cheers

Planetary imaging requires fast frame rate captures to 'freeze the seeing'. The ASI 120MM/MC and the others in this range like the Imaging Source cameras, come well recommended by a fair few on this forum.

Have yet to use one myself, but definitely plan to buy an ASI camera.

As for deepsky, I really like using my QHY9-M with filter wheel. Cannot remember the price off the top of my head, but jump on Theo's site Gama Electronics for more info.
