One for the people of Sydney who aren't interested in going to the northern locations.

Weather permitting.

Mt. Blackheath lookout is located west of Blackheath. The dirt road to the lookout is in fairly good condition. The road is semi-paved as well. Weather should still be fairly warm. Bring a jacket just in case. The lookout is located over 1000 meters above sea level and thus we enjoy transparent skies with fairly good seeing regularly. Dew occurrence at this time of year is sensibly nil. Bring some aeroguard roll-on too, although last time we didn't need to use it.

As we discovered last get-together its a lot of fun just to lie down on the launch pads for para-sailing at the site and just stare up at the sky and count the meteor streaks. Bring a yoga or exercise mat to lie down on to make the experience more enjoyable.

Don't forget to bring food and drinks. Also, remember to bring a battery for your electronics too...which I forgot last time. :bashcomp:

See you there

I think where they mean is 33.643748S 150.245057E. It's about 8.5Km and 20 mins from Blackheath.

Im in. but weather forecast so far not very promising. They are predicting 87% cloud cover during the night. Hopefully that gets updated with better news as the week goes on

I hope to be there too guys. However, I have a family thing on the next day that I can't avoid. So that means if its looking like it will be cloudy I'll probably pull the pin on this month. If its nice and clear I'll have to leave to go home earlier than last month.

On Saturday night moonset is 12:05 am, getting a bit late.

I'd suggest try for Friday night if you can escape work a tad early.

anyone wanna try tonight?

Not worth the drive IMHO - there's a strong southerly blowing on the coast which means cloud. If there are a few holes I'll take my scope out to the local oval near home - Killara - for a look at moon and planets. MSG me if you want to come say 8pm. The oval is dark but you can't drive onto it, have to carry gear a short distance.

Also the Macquarie unit thing is on tonight too, I suspect ?

While I know the moon tonight is still almost full... anyone interested in heading there to take some pics tonight? or Killara oval? or some places?

Thats sounds temping.. Im not live too far from you. Tonight apart from nightscape I wanna shoot comet jacque, try jupiter, mars shooting..etc. Do you think if we can do it in Eastern suburb? I will check the post/pm again at around 3... please PM the location if my friend and I can join you. Thanks in advance. Btw want some beer?

Jacques no chance from my place. Jupiter poor as it disappears behind trees quickly now. Mars & Saturn great. East, south and overhead best. North & west poor.

A good friend of mine is coming over too, using my new 12" ultralight.
