Hi everyone,
I took these 2 images - 1st January 2011.
I never got around to properly processing then until the last few days.
They had gradients that were difficult to remove.
The altitude was nearly 5,000 feet & I am pleased with the way they came out.
I actually had to take the telescope off the mount due to high winds
so I bolted the EOS1000d with it's kit lens onto the mount & took a few 5 minute shots.
Larger sizes are available on my flickr photos & worth looking at here:

Looks like a nice dark spot.

Nice detail and contrast in those shots. A great way to salvage the night.....Silly wind!

Well done

Thanks Rod,
Yes - Mt Baw Baw is a great spot - from a car park.
There is a floodlight about 200m away which causes gradients
but it's not noticeable to the naked eye -
just a nuisance when processing.
The wind was a blessing in some ways because without it I wouldn't have had some wide field pics.
A DSLR on top of a mount really does give some high impact images.

cheers
Allan
