Galaxy NGC 1808

Hi Everyone,

Bought myself a second hand RC8 Carbon Fibre and thought I better give the longer focal length a test run. I thought a small mag 10 galaxy approx 7'x 7' from a Bortle 6 Red zone would be a reasonable test so here it is.
Image details :
GSO RC8 CF, QHY9M, Baader R 18x300s, G 18x300s, B 18x420s all bin 2x2 , Synth L created in IRIS.

The new scope under less than ideal conditions is doing a pretty good job there.

Thanks Rick. It's a sort of equal first light really. First night I got half the data for this shot and about 2 hours of NGC2280. While I was collecting the second half of this shot I processed the NGC2280 in between.

Thanks Allan. I must admit you did give me the idea for the target after I saw your post. Funny I am sure I left a comment about your M42 image which was a beauty but something must have happened. With more data collected I am positive you would end up with a very nice image too!

Hi Lucas,
I have 2 versions of M42 on my flickr photos &
I don't know which one to delete or whether to start again.

My data on NGC 1808 was a bit out of focus & not that good.
I really need to revisit it from a dark site.

BTW - your NGC 1808 is flipped - a mirror image!
I wonder what Mike could do with this target?
It's too late this year - maybe next year?

Thanks the heads up Allan. I am not that good with orientation I just go for what sort of looks nice. If you could give me a tip or two on getting the correct orientation I would appreciate it! I reckon Mike would go very well on this target with his photon sucker. Martin Pugh has also done 20hrs on this target and his version is breathtaking.

I should probably clarify. I can get the rotation correct by uploading to astrobin and getting the orientation it's just mirror image which I am not that good with.

I know how to manipulate it in photoshop what I am a little uncertain of is how to recognise the image is actually mirror flipped in the first place. Can you use planetarium software? For Martin's image search for NGC1808 here or type Martin Pugh NGC 1808 into google.
