On Sunday I was invited by my sister in-law to attend what is dubbed to be ‘‘the happiest five kilometers on the planet’’.

I thought sure I’ll take my camera, but what I wasn’t expecting was to be approached by the event organisers and then given full access to take photos as part of the media crew!

I just had to agree not to sell them for personal gain and allow the Colour Run organisers to showcase my photos on their Facebook page with credit to me and links to my blog.

I was given a media jacket and tag, access to the stage, access to a cherry picker operated by a techie to hoist you up for any arial shots.

It’s understatement to say I had the best day, everyone was happy, everyone was smiling, everyone wanted their photos taken. It was so much fun!

:eyepop::lol: That's a lot of powder. Were you in the middle of it? We want to see a selfie. ;)

You certainly justified being given the 'Access All Areas' badge with that set of excellent photographs. The organisers must have been very happy with their returns on that decision.
Well Done.

Nice shots Carlos, but I hope your gear is all ok after that: http://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2013/05/how-to-ruin-your-gear-in-5-minutes-without-water

"I just had to agree not to sell them for personal gain and allow the Colour Run organisers to showcase my photos on their Facebook page with credit to me and links to my blog."

^ That sounds eerily familiar: http://petapixel.com/2014/02/14/color-run-sues-photog-demanding-payment-widely-distributed-photo/ (there are two sides to the story on that one though)

Thanks Mike, yeah I had a ball. Normally I'm quite shy around people, don't like being the centre of attention, but I had this big sign on my back that said MEDIA and everyone kept screaming at me to take their photo. I kinda felt like 'Celebrity meets Paparazzi'.

You would have loved it Mike, colour saturation and vibrance to the max!

No way! I managed to keep a healthy distance. Fortunately no one decided to throw powder at me. Sorry no selfies taken :P

Thank you very much Trevor! Being a night-owl I wasnt sure how well my day shots would turn out, but the positive feedback has been great.

Thanks Laurie :)

Thanks Greg! Fortunately my sister in law showed me the lensrentals article and I saw those photos, oh my goodness! Luckily I purchased a rain cover for my camera over Xmas and had it on the whole time. But those photos served as a further warning not to risk even getting close to the action. So I attached my 100-400mm L and kept my distance. Had I not seen that article, I think I may have been in trouble.

I checked my lens and camera when I got home, clean as a whistle.

I saw the 2nd article yesterday, yep defiantely two sides to that story but I figured that if I ever sold one of those photos I would donate the profit to their charity, I'm sure they wouldn't mind that. If Colour Run take one of my photos and start using it for advertising I'd hope they would credit me, but as long as it encourages more people to participate then I'm content.
