Full Orion Mosaic

A very preliminary mosaic of the entire constellation of Orion I have been working on. 200mm, f2.8, Modded 6D, Astrotrac. End result will be 80 megapixel in resolution. I was thinking of purchasing a dedicated Ha narrow band filter to finish the job, but looks like I might just get away without it. One last chance to acquire more data for this when the full moon wanes more to new moon. Hope the weather plays nice!

I was going to do the same this summer with the STL and 200mm f/2.8 lens, but, never got around to it. I had the mosaic parameters all ready to send to Maxim and all!

Can I ask how you've managed to bring out the nebulosity without emphasising the thousands of stars?
I've attached an attempt I've been working on, but mine is a stack of 50mm F1.8 (@F4) shots on a Nikon D7000.
I think I used ISO1600 for most at around 90-150 secs each
I think DSS said there were 27000 stars on some of them, and I think it makes it look too busy.
I'd like to get a shot like yours, with less emphasis on the stars and more on the colour.
Any advice would be appreciated

Rob, more details of the data - Full spectrum modded 6D, 77mm Vis+Ha pass filter (Spencer's Camera), 70-200 f2.8L II @ 200mm, f2.8, ISO3200, 8x120s, 8x30s, 4x8s, 4x3s. 28 deg Celsius ambient (and sensor) temp. Dark frame subtraction applied to all shots.
Bob, I used the "Make Stars Smaller" function in Fitswork, which is quite crude. I am looking for another method of doing this. Does anyone use star masks generated using deep sky stacker?
Heading out later this week and weekend to gather more photons to complete it. Hoping for good weather :)
