May as well join em... :P
Just mucking about with some cloud pics with a few filters to see which ones produce the best IR shots. I've tried every filter I have, and there are a few. To me I think the GSO blue and a polariser make a good combo for colour and the 950nm IR filter for mono.
There's so many variations with different filters and channel swapping too. And there's plenty of clouds here to keep be busy for a very long time!

Thanks John. I'm waiting for some storms in the right spot to see what they reveal.

Interesting stuff.
I'm looking for the best way to enhance clouds (and the sky in general) on my weather camera.

At the moment, it's a combination of three bracketing shots combined ito a single image. The foreground can appear a little dark but it's the weather I'm interested in.
I'd consider fitting a filter if it improved things.

A polarising filter should do the trick Geoff.

Thanks for that. I'll see if I can pick up something on eBay for testing.
Problem will be mounting it as there no facility for mounting filters (or lenses) on the camera. I feel a bodge coming on!

Thanks Geoff. Did some channel swapping on that one.

So cool. #6 would be my pick.

Thanks Marc. No 5 and 6 were taken through a 950nm IR filter. Even with a modded camera it's dark, so a dozen or so frames were taken in quick succession and stacked in DSS to reduce noise. For reasons that I don't understand, deeper IR pics are noisy even at ISO 200.

Very nice set. I like the first one, but they are all good.
