Hi guys

One of the things missing from last years IISAC2013 was the community/group meeting at dinner time - the sort of thing that used to happen during the catered dinners but was missed from last year because of the self-catering.

People just fed themselves and then went back to their scopes/tents etc.

There were some great suggestions about how we can bring that back, even without the fully catered option that we'd enjoyed in previous years.

So I've got a few options and am happy to run with either of them. Just let me know your thoughts or feedback:

1) Sausage Sizzle on Saturday afternoon, before the group photo etc
- I'll supply sausages, onions, bread/rolls, maybe some coleslaw
- Will require volunteers to help on the BBQ
- $2 buy-in
- BYO drinks or soft-drinks from the fridge
- Everyone gathers for sausages, chats, etc.

2) "Happy Hour" on Saturday afternoon, before the group photo etc.
- Everyone brings their own drinks or soft-drinks from the fridge
- Everyone (well, maybe not everoyne but hopefully more than just 1 or 2 people :)) brings some snacks to eat and/or share (biscuits, cake, chips, chocolate, etc)
- Everyone gathers for snacks, chats, etc.

What do you think?

Doing it earlier in the afternoon means:
- People can still be at their scope tinkering well before dark
- People can still get together to meet new people, chat and ask questions, get to know each other
- People can still make their own dinner arrangements
- People still have time to arrive on the Saturday for those coming for just the Saturday night

I basically want an excuse for everyone to get together at the lower house/marquee area.

Thoughts?

Sausage sizzle sounds great to me. I have offered to run an astro trivia event. I don't know if the PM has been received yet, Mike? But a trivia/sausage sizzle event could be good.

Hope you're not suggesting I need to answer questions correctly to win a sausage! :P
