An object well and truly off the beaten track.

SL4 is a dark nebula in the faint emission nebula Gum 17.
7.5 hrs Ha, 1 hr R, 1 hr G, 1 hr B BRC-250 scope, STXL-11002 CCD.

Higher resolution image here.

Interestingly the Ha exposures reduced the contrast between the dark and emission nebula, a red filter used for luminance would have preserved the contrast much better.

Indeed a rare find.

As an aside have you taken down your web page?

I don't mind admitting I used to trawl through your images to find interesting stuff to target. Can't seem to find it these days.

If you prefer, please pm me the url

Nice shot Stephen. And that's a new camera too?

Looking good. It looks like a giant brain.

Greg.

Thanks Greg,

I've had the STXL-11002 for a few months, I've taken a few images with it.

Nice work Steve!Gum 17 is actually very nice in a wider context.

The frustrations of narrow scale imaging with an STXL-11002.:)
