I'm not convinced I like this myself, but I'll put it out there for comment!
I'd taken an ordinary sort of night time panorama - thirty odd shots 180 degrees across and zenith to sea. The next morning I took the camera back and did the same shot in the daytime and blended them together to make something a little more interesting.
I guess it might be one of those love it or loath it effects...

Its an interesting photo Jonathon. It looks like it took quite a bit of work to put it together as well.
I kind of like it kind of don't, as you said. But I certianly like the creativity and free thinking.
Greg.

Thanks Greg - yes, 56 images amounting to 1.5 gig of data reduced to 200kb for IIS :)
Thankfully the mount took the photos automatically and PTGui did most of the rest while I drank wine. The most time consuming bit I find is masking the horizon, although I only did a quick and dirty mask for this one as I never intended to use the night shot after I saw the initial result (it needed to be much broader in range to crop down to size to get a better effect I recon).
Interestingly, over on Google+ its already my most +1'd image and had over 9000 views in about 12 hours. I think that what appeals to me as an astronomer is not the same as that which ticks the boxes of the rest of the world !

I am 50/50 on the image. However I think you did great work on the blend. I especially like how the clouds at the top seem to join the southern part of the milky way in the night shot.
