This is my first try at the Tarantula Nebula.

Exposure: 5 minutes frames, L(19) R(3) G(3) B(3), 140 minutes total.
FSQ106ED, EM200-2M and 383L+ at -15C.
Date: Jan 30, 2014.

Hi Luiz,
Nice picture - top data.
I think the latest version is a bit too dark which
has caused the nice faint yellow/brown area at the bottom left corner
of the Tarantula to be lost although you've fixed what looked like a gradient.

Thanks for the input Allan, I think you are right. I must work now with the Dynamic Background Extractor, instead of the Automatic.

Hi Luiz,
It's all subjective really but -
the free program called Fitswork4 would fix it up in 1 minute.

Go to:
processing
background flatten
background gradient removal manual

Hi Allan,

I have uploaded a new revision, with an improved background correction and a less aggressive contrast. Now I think the red clouds are better displayed. Thank you VERY MUCH for your observations!

Only Tarantula ?!?!

There, you can see NGC 2074, an unidentified group, NGC 2077, NGC 2086, NGC 2083.

Very good field. :thumbsup:

Hi Allan,

Thanks for the info. I took a look at it, and it seems a nice free program with many useful features.
I opted to use PixInsight Dynamic Background Extractor, however, due to the complicated geometry required for the background correction in my case (I don't know how to process complex background with FitsWork4).

Thanks Jsmoraes, a name as "Tarantula Nebula Field" should be more appropriate. I took a look at your LMC objects, a nice collection.
