NGC 2070 from Country Victoria, During Feb new moon.

20x5 min RGB with SBIG 8300c - pushed and stretched to bu... well lots anyway! Really just seeing how far one can push OSC RGB files in post production with PS and NIK filters.

I've stretched a BW luminance blend layer in PS to bring out the nebulosity, and colour blend mode layers on top, heavily filtered with tonal and colour contrast layers, noise reduction, sharpening and a separate star layer on top of the stack. (I suspect the 200K Jpeg will suffer in translation, but hopefully it still looks ok).

Was also trying a bit of star masking to hold the big stars from bloating during stretching. Still working on these techniques, hopefully they should come in handy when I eventually move on to a mono setup.

Pretty good night's seeing, might be worthwhile getting a bit more data for smoother results, but overall I'm happy with it.

Anyway, thanks for looking, feedback welcome. :)
Cheers

Andy

Great to see that you got something good from the night. I can't recall, did you hit two targets?

Thanks Morton :)

Cheers Marc:)

Yeah, had a crack at the Running Chicken, but it needs heaps more data yet.
Will try and get some more from home with the LP filter and combine/use it as a luminance layer.
