Matching Polarex Paint

I'm currently repainting a Polarex 40mm 10x 300mm fl finderscope and would appreciate :help: finding a matching paint colour.

There is some info on yahoo groups." Unitron and polarex owners"
You will have to join group and enter paint colors in search. There is some conversations on white code numbers.

Sorry this took so long but I just tonight fell over the box the repainted finder was in. The UO one is on the left (the little one) the others are original Unitron paint. It was painted with the spray paint sold at masters , I forget the brand but it has a weird looking spray set up on top and is US paint.

Matt is the adaptor one of your home made jobs?
I put it and an ES 68º 24mm eyepiece in and seems like a 5º+ TFOV !!! Just a rough guesstimate from looking at the Moon. A beautiful finder. I'll be painting it to match my 6" refractor, a gloss white.

I think Lars made the adapter. I tried it with an LVW22, great little refractor.

The finder is painted.
Did 2 coats of etch primer followed by 4 coats of the same gloss white in a spray can from Bunnings. After it had dried for a couple of days I 'Baked' it in my BBQ with 1 burner going on low at 70-80ºC, a bit higher than I wanted but I doubt the temperature gauge is accurate.
Baking hardened the paint and turned it glosser than if I had left it for a month to cure. Turned out really well.
Next in the BBQ is a 4" 100ED tube that needs a repaint, it just fits in the BBQ.

What a classicly gorgeous setup Matt!

I found some PERFECT matches for Takahashi green and white recently, though sadly one is discontinued (I hunt every automotive paint place I can find!!!). I also matched one of the uncommon Vixen off-whites.

Life is WAY too short to use crappy looking telescopes. Nothing worse IMHO than a disheveled looking rig. Heck, I wax my OTA's! (carefully, of course!!!)
