Is the User ID and password for a Yahoo e-mail account the same as, or linked to Yahoo Groups for the various Yahoo Newsgroups? Or, are these different entities?

I just use yahoo mail for my junk mail and spam so good luck to them.
Surely yahoo aren't keeping plaintext passwords anywhere?? Sounds like the hackers got a password hash file and went to work on it....
Might change my yahoo pw to another 30 char random string to be sure.... :)
