Last year was my first IISAC. I liked the notice board at the house where people could write requests for help/advice, etc (e.g. need help polar aligning).

Was wondering what people think about having a list of equipment at the camp? So if I see that someone has a TEC140 or FS128 I could look through one for the first time. :D

The list would be voluntary (maybe you don't want to share your TEC140 - fair enough) and to save Mike having to organise it, all we'd need is a sheet of paper that we can fill in ourselves.

Of course, maybe we don't want to advertise really expensive gear, which is fine. Nothing I have is particularly fancy or expensive.

Any thoughts?

Good idea Morton. On the flip side, if there was a particular piece of equipment you wanted to use, you could put that on the list asking if anyone had it and was willing to give you a look. Stuff like eyepieces or filters, that might not be as obvious as that 20" Dob sitting in the paddock.

More than happy to have others come and inspect my EQ8: Meade 250 mm ACF: Televue 85: QSI 683. OF course I would expect suggestions, comments, criticisms, particularly criticisms. I am very new to all of this and want to get the most out of this equipment. I know the theory but need practical advice.

I don't do astrophotography so I'm not sure I can give you any advice. I may, however, just stare in awe at your setup :D

You may not only stare but use it for visual or imaging. I am not too proud to say I know diddly squat about the practical side of observational astronomy. I have retired and have an interest in photometry that I now have the time to pursue.

I will learn the trade by sharing - if I see how others use the equipment I will better understand the tips and tricks and limits of what can and can't be done
