Hi Everyone,

I have a Saxon 6" Mak Cass and the screw on the focussing dial appears to be affecting the focussing mechanism by catching on the housing. It still focuses well, albeit in a slightly erratic manner.

The scope in question;

I have spoken with the always helpful gents at BINTEL who were not able to assist with this model and I haven't received a response from Saxon from two enquiries.

Can someone please PM me with the details of a repairer (hobbyist or business) in the Sydney region?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Kind regards,
Lyndon

Depending on the value of the scope, the formal repair costs may be a bit unreasonable.

Try touching base with your local/NSW astro club members. There are some brilliant engineer types out there, who very freely give of their time and expertise.

Just a thought.

Cheers.

Dont use the focuser and add a crayford focuser to the rear cell.

One of these http://www.bintel.com.au/Accessories/Focusers/Bintel-2--SCT-Crayford-Focuser-10-1/502/productview.aspx

We put one on the back of a 6" MakCas a couple of years back. worked a treat. Take the scope into Bintel and check to make sure thread fits.

If the focuser has a rubber outer knob, then the rubber may be pushed on too far - just try pulling it back a few mm. (It is a push fit).
If it has a metal knob secured by 1 or 2 grub screws, loosen the screws, shift the knob out a little, then retighten.
