I am still new to this game  but I think I am improving. Still can't quite manage to get the clarity I see in some other images from a similar sized scope.

I use an Orion 12 in XTG and a barlow 2.5x or 3x . Imaged with a DMK41. On rare occasions I use both barlows together stacked but it is near impossible to focus at that magnification so I usually just stick with one or the other.

Quite reasonable results Nigel, I think you are doing well with the equipment you are using.

It really is all about gaining experience with your gear, learning what works best for you in different conditions.

Yes, focussing can get quite challenging at high magnifications especially in average seeing conditions (which is quite common for Jupiter from our latitudes this time round).

I use electronic microfocuser which greatly speeds up the overall process.
