Integrated flux nebula (IFN) and ngc 7479 in Pegasus.

hello ,
i would like to show you this image which reveal particularly IFN near ngc7479.
IFN was imaged the first time by Steve Mandel in 2004(tell me if i'm wrong), and with scientists collaboration , the Mandel-Wilson catalog was born.
"Integrated Flux Nebula is the term coined to describe a nebula illuminated by the integrated visual and UV flux of the Milky Way." (steve citation)
i think this area in Pegasus never have been imaged with integrated flux nebula.
This image image is the fruit of collaboration from JP Cales (image acquisition) and me ,M. Vanhuysse (processing), with remote setup in south of spain in particularly high and dark area (5400 ft, near 22 sqm meter), with astrograph 12" f3.6/stl 11k/paramount.
luminance 17* 420sec and RGB 5*600sec each (3 hours total)

the processing is voluntary hard to reveal the ifn.this is the goal of this image.

Excellent result Michael! That dust is very faint and in the not too distant past was either not picked up by imagers/photographers or if it was picked up was processed out :doh:

Steve Mandel was certainly not the first person to image this dust, it was picked up in various sky surveys all over the sky since the 70's and was showcased beautifully by David Malin and others and was and is still referred to as Galactic Cirrus Dust. The term Integrated Flux Nebula or IFN is a much more recent term coined my Steve Mandel et al in around 2005 to further describe it given its multi faceted mechanism for illumination and this name appears to have stuck, at least in the amateur imaging world, especially in the US.

I love the faint detail you have captured

The IFN sounds very interesting.

I took a photo of M15 in October from a dark site and noted some very faint "swirls" in the background.

I wonder if it is IFN?
