SBS recently aired two excellent BBC documentaries - from the Horizon program - that are well worth watching. I found both to be very well made. Even though I consider myself well read, I still learned a thing or two. These documentaries seem to provide not only a good summary of the subject matter but also cover the latest developments (that I'd not seen before).
Both documentaries are available for a short time through SBS On Demand:
How Small Is The Universe? (http://www.sbs.com.au/ondemand/video/110132291658/How-Small-Is-The-Universe)
How Big Is The Universe? (http://www.sbs.com.au/ondemand/video/116806723573/How-Big-Is-The-Universe)
