Haha!
Back in the late eighties, the Midland McDonalds store in Perth had a dine-in DC-3.
I remember dining in it a few times as a kid, was a whole lot of fun.
It was there for a decade or so but has since been moved to a new location in Midland.
Found a page with photo's of it's relocation: http://www.douglasdc3.com/dc3move/dc3move.htm

Hi Ron,

The last time I ever flew in one was 1986 on Bangladesh Biman from Dhaka to
Bangkok.

On that particular flight luckily the cargo door didn't blow out, causing the cabin floor
to collapse and it in turn severing the control cables, but I was mindful of
the possibility and even visualized the ensuing short story buried on page 12 of the
Sydney Morning Herald with the obligatory line reading "there was one Australian
on-board".

One thing I will give them was the cabins were spacious with boxy angles and
impressive overhead space. Like the styling of some big American car.

Apparently Bangladesh Biman plan to fly the last one in the world to take passengers in February.

Gary,My last flight in a DC10 was from Hawaii to Brisbane in 1990.
I have no fond memories of that flight.
I sat right up close to the galley and movie screen in an isle seat, so got the last cup of coffee the last meal, and to add injury to insult had my right Knee belted at least three times by the food trolly on its way down the back to the people at the rear who got got served first:mad2:
The movie was Steel Magnolias which had been played on every flight from Australia to the UK,around America and back to Australia, I was fed up with it by the time I got back.:mad2:
Final Gripe was that the guy sitting next to me had a Walkman stuck in his hear and the volume must have been deafening as I could hear it so loud.
Also as you say in the back of my mind was the thought that the door might just fall off.
Hear endeth my rant about the DC10
Cheers:thumbsup:

I flew to the U.S.A. and back in DC10s many years ago. They creaked and groaned all the way. My ex-wife's brother was a senior pilot with Eastern Airlines, and when I mentioned my experience in the DC10, his comment was "Ahh-the death ship"

 The Mt Erebus crash did a lot to kill off the type, even though that was human error.

They have one of the lowest stalling speeds in big jet aircraft, which meant they were used from 2006 on as fire retardant bombers. There was for a time a proposal that we should have one here, but it was determined that suitable airstrips were not well distributed enough in risk zones.
