Been having some time off since new years, so no night time work has presented the opportunity to do some photography:D

After my failed horse head attempt

So this is a proper attempt at some HA imaging. Longer subs this time:P

This is 6 Hours of 10 minus subs, with the QHY9 binned 2x2 and RC10, last night with the moon pretty bright.

First go at processing a HA image. Don't know if that makes a difference? Any feedback would be great.

Hope you like it!

Looks pretty good, Erik! Maybe a little soft but it's hard to tell at that resolution.

Thanks Rick. It does look a bit soft now you mention it. Might have been the compressed version I uploaded. Heres another one….

That shows some nice detail, Erik, and is a definite improvement. Are you planning to do more narrowband or some RGB?

Cheers,
Rick.

Hi Erik,
There is plenty of detail in that.
It will look great if you can add some RGB at the next new moon as it will make a good luminance layer.

Thanks Rick. Probably will add some colour to it. I wasn't going to, but it might come out nice.

Thanks Allan. Yeah I'll grab some colour when the moon's new. Do you mean use my current data as the luminance layer, or the RGB?

Hi Erik,
You can use the Ha as a luminance layer.
You can also stack all the RGB frames together to make another luminance layer.
You can then combine them at various opacity's in Photoshop to see what looks best.
The stars will be bigger & more bloated in the RGB luminance
& there are tricks to get rid of them & use the Ha stars instead.
e.g. this is what I do -

And also in Fitswork4 you can make stars smaller & then layer it back with the original to prevent hardened stars.

cheers
