I'm new here - Hi. Is anyone going to Faroe Islands for the 2015 total eclipse?

Interesting idea. I'd have to look at the weather probabilities first, but I'm due a trip to the north side...

I was keen until I did some research on their weather! Will probably wait until the USA in 2017.

89% cloud cover is average for the eclipse time, 82% chance of rain at some time during the day. :(

Or Palembang Indonesia on 9 March 2016. Much better chances, closer to the inhabited world and more confortable temperatures.

Hi Danny,

I may be going, but weather will always be a factor. You've got no chance of seeing it if you stay at home, that's certain.

Apparently Svalbard has slightly better weather prospects, but not by much.

If you've ever thought of going to the Faroe Islands though, this is the time to do it, and you might even get to see an eclipse!

Regards

If you get the chance, go to Svalbard. It is a place so unlike anywhere else you can go at such reasonable cost and effort, it is beyond amazing.

Hi everyone,

I am from the Faroe Islands. If anyone is planning on going to the Faroe Islands for Solar Eclipse 2015, I have two houses with accommodation for up to 6 people each. If traveling together with others, you could split the cost to get the rent cheaper for each person. The houses have 3 bedrooms each, with 2 beds in each room.

If you are interested, or have questions, you can contact me: randidebes@gmail.com.

There are still air tickets available. But they are sold out very soon.

Kind Regards,

Randi Debes

Randi, I was this -><- close to coming to Torshavn as the journey by Ferry ex Hirtshals (http://www.smyrilline.com/) would have been one hell of a trip at reasonable cost and Svalbard is completely out of the question cost wise. Alas, I got an offer for a seat on an observing flight ex Zurich that I could not refuse.

I may come to the Faroe Islands some other time. Must be a great spot, eclipse or not.
