Some good seeing is predicted in the next 24-48 hrs here in
Adelaide.

Skippy: go Sth Aust, go seeing, press +24h/+48hrs

Got to grab these opportunities when they happen.
No doubt, associated with hot weather as the high passes over us
so you will have to use the peltier cooling :)

and with good seeing comes bright moon :D Yes looks pretty good, but day time heat will affect early imaging etc.. would have to wait till the early hours of the morning I think. Give things time to cool off a bit. Peltier, yep, time to throw everything into the freezer.

I need to wait for the gully winds to die down. :windy:

I just got back inside from observing the moon. There was a bit of turbulence but nothing too bad, good enough for crisp viewing up to about 200x or so.

Mike,

like I said, tonight's the night baby!
yep gully breezes are a pain...but to paraphrase Dr Who:
"domes are cool" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPGTizdGwSc)

Looks good in the next 12-24 hrs for SA.
Spent all day putting in a floating timber floor and I'm
B U G G E R E D...especially after doing an astro all nighter
last night as well....but guddamnit...I'll be up tonight
as well...
god bless the person who invented beer:drink::cheers:

I just finshed painting the passage and putting in a floating floor myself, only a small one but the doorways are a pain, 9 of them to deal with plus the whole thing is an odd shape. Of course now that that job is done the rest of the house is looking worse for wear :help:

Despite the wind I went out for some moon light. I had to put a clamp on my dob base to stop it spinning.

The seeing was better than last night which was like looking through a heat haze. Tonight it was just the wind blowing in and out of focus. I enjoyed the view anyway.

Mike, there were brief periods here of 1.6-2.00 FWHM on the capture
live preview but it deteriorated around midnight.
Some stuff captured looking south about 45 degrees up looked promising.
I gave it away around 3am.
Still looks good tonight.

Off topic a bit mate, but did you do the hallway floorboards long-ways down the corridor or across-ways (lots more cuts) ?

A few years ago I did the girls bedroom and left the edge board in the doorway ready to continue. I purchased enough boxes at the time to do the passage I just did not plan on the long gap before doing so. That board was slightly damaged at the edge but not so much that I could not join onto it and continue.

To answer your question, I matched the room it was joined to. The passage/entry is an L shape so it was always going to be wrong for one of them.

Thanks Mike and Fred.
That is the next stage, to do the daughter's room and passageway but I
wasn't sure how bad the change of direction would look.
Common sense was telling me a passageway would look far better long-ways.

cheers,

Steve

I had a quick look lastnight, unfortunately I couldn't do any observing due to work commitments at 5am :( That along with a bright moon, really sucked... the street light which blazes light into out backyard has blown so I have a nice dark backyard, too bad I cannot enjoy it atm...

I was out ready to go, watching the Moon rise & at the same time the WIND came up and almost blew me off the verandah. So much for a night of good seeing..
