This is an odd one.
I noticed this cloud at about 7ish standing in front of some cumulus and thought it might be a good photo, but didn't pursue it.
I went out on the deck at 10pm and the cumulus had gone but this one was still in the same spot.
It was gone by 11. Very strange. The light is the moon behind the eaves.
Not a master-piece, just a record of an oddity.

Great shot Trevor!

Most unusual for it to persist so long, wonder if there's any meteorologists on IIS that can tell us what's going on?

Cheers,

Justin.

Nice photo Trevor, intreguing also in nteresting long stay, yep. I assume a cold pool in this particular atmosphere layer with zero wind and minimal influences at the time ?
oh, just read your post Justin, Im not a meterologist but I have been into weather for as long as i remember, so, maybe something in my assumption, though dont take it as correct, factual etc , , just my logical opinion ? ?

Cheers ....

Thanks guys. just another of those wonders that nature seems to do so easily and my knowledge of Meteorology is: Oh wow, look at that. Pretty, then any ideas about how are new ideas to me :-)
It's good having an interest in the sky; even the day time can bring wonder if you just look up.

Looks very much like a contrail in a layer with very little wind.

Thanks guys.
Yes a contrail seems to be about right. It was narrower early in the day.
