Hi, hope this is fiine posting here ?
As the title says, Mojor Porblems with using IIS - very very slow opening the forum here, like 30seconds to a minute, some times longer, changing pages, or opening in new page or tab, very slow indeed, opening images taking as long and thats If there is are images as once pages open, there are a lot of blank boxes with crosses in them - even the Home page does Not fully/completely open !

I assume it is only happening with my PC as there is no other Thread about it, that I know of; as Im not taking an hour or two to find out ? ?

This has been constantly happening for about a week now, and I just close it down, I did manage to get a Thread going in Terrestrial, but that took like a half hour, Hence why posting here.

My IE is working fine with every other Website I use but IIS is only one doing this ! My PC is also running very good, as alsways, but I have no Idea why this is happening ? ?

Im Not frustrated or annoyed, well, maybe a little ;) But I do know these things happen on a rare occasions, no fault of anyones, just one of those things, but maybe there is something I can/need to do to solve this, as I'm doubting it will sought itself out ?

Im Running Vista and 32bit windows, standard stuff ...

Maybe a setting in IE has changed that I'm Not aware of, I really not that with it when it comes to things like this

All I know is that my PC is operating normally on every other Website, Only a few seconds to open most pages unless bigger pages, but then only 5-10 second Max.

My Windows is fully updated, which I assume IE is also, does windows update, update IE as well, Im not sure, but then, why are all other site working normally, anyway, sorry for the long run through, just trying to give an idea of whats doing ?

Appreciate anything that will help , ,

PS, I look at this again tomoro evening, as pages or taking up way to long to try again directly .

Rgrds

Bob

I had that problem with IE some time ago when opening up multiple tabs on the forum, changed to Firefox and the problem disappeared.

Since updating IE, I find I have to open and close an image on IIS, then re-open it to be able to view it. Also Bintel's website causes IE to shut down.
I don't have these problems with Google Chrome.

Please try Firefox or Chrome.

The problem is most certainly at your end, and likely to do with IE.

I've noticed that on the Bintel site yeah with IE 10/11. 9 is fine. On IIS the picture popup loading via javascript/ajax is broken in IE11 & 10 but it works fine on every other browser.

I found these kinds of problems when I got my new windows 8 machine. The problem in my case was windows 8 wasn't correctly reading the DNS from my router. Manually setting the DNS on my machine to my IP's solved it. I at first thought it was a couple of particular sites but that was just because I was using them most so the problems were evident there most. I had slow loading, time-out, having to re-load images, etc.

Could have bad IPs cached in the DNS taking longer to resolve. Try cmd > ipconfig /flushdns. Try OpenDNS or GoogleDNS too.

Thanx Mike and all for replys.

I took the liberty of doing a power cycle on the Modem this morn 'switch off for 10 mins' and now all is all working normally fine. Opens IIS in a second, page changing, a second and all images and Headers are complete etc !

Rodger that Rodger, Re Router, in my case, Modem, may be onto something there, & some way relative with server caches Re: KillSwitch

All too technical for me, tho seems to have done the job . . .

Sounds feasible anywhich was look at it, as was happening to Iphone as well when going through the modem, the Iphone has no problems now either with IIS now . . . .

Appreciate the input again, very much so

Same with me - Bintel & Ice in Space wouldn't work properly.
IE11 made it worse.

Mozilla Firefox has solved it.
It's now my new browser & it's also faster.

Well well, After power cycling the Modem just a few short weeks ago, I have found the above said issue came back last week, so did another power cycle last week and still the problem returns !
I have worked on the problem and with further advice from a close freind.
Being just a Quick Fix, I have this morning applied some setting changes in IE : Internet Options Section - in here under the 'Privacy' Tab,
Click on 'Advance' & then click/checkmark the 'Override Automatic Cooky Handling' Box.

This deletes all cookies for which IE seems to get confused with whilst using IIS Forum when opening extended pages and attached images etc !
Working a bit better this way, tho I will/can change this setting, 'uncheck' the box for other internet usage, although having this box 'checked' does appear to slow normal webpages down a couple/few secs ?

So I will download FireFox to try also !

Cheers .

Hi Bob,

I had a similar problem on another forum.
I now use google chrome to open that one, apart from annoying google pop ups it works quite well.

Cheers,

Justin.

Cheers Justin , ,

The Override Automatic Cooky Handling hasnt really helped that much, I have always avoided google this & that because of toolbars etc, I guess if one is a PC whizz, you could easily get around them, but not this duck, Lol ..
I have ultimately uploaded Firefox as Allan has suggested, & I've known it to be good years ago, but it kinda slipped my memory and wasnt sure of what to do about said issues
Installing Firefox is pretty easy to do and un-clicked some of the options during download !
Working like a charm

No worries Bob,
it's worth having 2 browsers nowadays.
Firefox is much faster than Internet Explorer & it least it works on Ice in Space.

Keep in mind that Telstra has been having major DNS issues this week (in Sydney metro at least) . I switched my network to Google DNS this week. It was just ridiculous.
