Hi Bert,
In the image through naked eye top left corner seems to be the most effected area where CCD inspector tilt direction is towards the bottom. Is the RGB image rotated some way? Also do you know why the tilt direction arrow shows towards bottom or Y- where the tilt amount is +0.1" in the Y axis.

I am considering CCD inspector myself but the finding it hard to grasp or associate the result consistently.

Hi Bert,
Nice shot.
I hope you don't mind? -
I cropped the Thor's Helmet out & did some processing on it.
see pic.

cheers

Most impromptu repro's by others are a disaster Allan (and make me laugh sometimes)..but this is quite good

Bert, get that scope under dark skies

Allan I do not mind at all in fact I welcome it!

Here is the data as a compressed tiff 123 MB

http://d1355990.i49.quadrahosting.com.au/2014_01/THORSH.zip

The data was upsized before stacking which improves resolution. My sensor with nine micron pixels under samples the resolution of the RH200. It has only been corrected for darks and flats. I have removed the gradients with PixInsight.

It expands to a 216MB tiff.

My version was just a quickie to see how the alignment was. I have been up all night and at my age that is quite a feat!

Look forward to your efforts or anyone else's.

The main mission last night was to image a field of dim stars to see how the alignment stood up. Thor's Helmet was just a bonus.

That's good Bert - I had another go with your extra data.
There is so much noiseless colour to play with in your system.
see pic:

Update - I added a pic with less hardened stars & got rid of that black spot.

Where's Bert - I slaved over his hot data. :)

Every now and then I cannot get into IIS. It could be Telstra's system. If I fire up Anonymizer I can then get in?

Looks like you got far more detail and colour with your effort Allan.

I have been up all night two nights in a row heading for the third.

I have some OIII data of THor's Helmet and when I get some more HA or NII I will put the data up.

Below is a quickie of the noisy old HA data with new OIII.

That's good Bert - a lot more faint nebulosity showing.

Did you notice I did a lot of work to make the stars smaller?
otherwise they upstage the pic of the nebula.
I think it's ok to do that as we know stars are really pin points.
A luminance layer with your latest pic will help in that regard too.

cheers
Allan
