This is a 4 panel mosaic on the area. Some of the exposures are from 31st night when the fireworks in the neighborhood started to pop, so I was surprised to see no fireworks in the image! Hope you enjoy the FOV
Mount: AP1600
Scope: FSQ106N
CCD: STL 11k
Guiding: MOAG + STi
Filter: Baader ha
Exposure: 4 panel mosaic each with 5x 20min
Large version: here (http://astro-raki.com/173/img_1317/#main)
Once I have the new CCD I will keep the TEC160 permanently mounted in the backyard and will use LMDS with this combo time to time for LRGB&Ha (that's the plan for now)

Wow! Very cool.
Any tips for making sure you get each frame in the right position when slewing the scope?

Looks ok Raki.
You must be good with lifting heavy weighs. Taking the AP1600 to the LMDSS will be a good work out.

It will depend on what software you use. In my case I choose the frames in such a way so that each reference frames have enough over lap (15% or more). Once I have those reference frames I use MaximDL to plate solve and slew to the intended reference position for that intended frame. MaximDL also have a mosaic capture option in their auto sequencing. I just prefer do it manually when choosing the frame position.

Yep, I am going to follow Mike :).
To be honest I will be taking my G11 to LMDSS.
After trying the G11 the other night I find that I will have relearn the art of using G11, if you see a guy in LMDSS frantically trying to get his G11 to work that will be me.

You'll have to beat military pressing an LX200 12" GPS icluding forks, overhead for 10 repertitions  something just cam over me at the time...probably a bit crazy considering it had just set me back $10K :P
Great image, awesome field, well mozaiced

Sorry...either the seeing was woeful or the focus is a smidge off....
That said...sublime field....superb Ha stitch.

True Peter, quite a few of the exposures are through worse then average seeing. I only have 5 on each panel so didn't really exclude any.

Ok, so we are sort of the same here, returning to the G11 after the AP mount. I found it took a while getting used to it again seeing I hadn't used it for 2 years. But after the memory recovered the hidden data, things worked ok.
You'll be right. Just try it before you go. I did the mistake of not trying first, and spent a few hours saying loud profanities until all was well. How embarrassing. :ashamed:
See you at the LMDSS,
Steve
