This was a recent diversion from a run of galaxy imaging which I am still in the middle of.
Superhole in the LMC. An interesting nebula with a wind blown section which creates interesting shapes.
A quick bicolour image. I took a lot more but it didn't get saved due to a full hard disk!
CDK17 and reducer at F4.5. Starlight Express Trius 694 and Astrodon 5nm Ha and O111 filters.

Hi Greg,
That's quite a nice image. When you say Bicolour, did you map the Ha to red, the OIII to green and blue?
It's a shame about your full hard disk, they're really quite cheap these days, sometimes I don't even bother to back them up, I just copy everything over to a new (much larger) disk and then install that. Using a Mac for imaging makes this a snap.

Good start on this one Greg. I did it a few years ago and found it a pain to process.

Thats different Greg, trippy looking object, nice smooth result, dig the central cluster, like a mini rossette :P
Appreciate your captures you share here, very inspiring for many, im sure  Top show

Ha to red O111 to blue and (Ha +O111)/2 to green.
Yes they are cheap but quite flimsy and easily fail.
Greg.
Thanks Steve. I'll take some more between galaxies! I think it also needs some decent seeing as its quite small.
Greg.
Thanks for that. It is quite unusual and I appreciate your encouraging words.

Some very cool structures there, Greg. Would be good to see with some more data. Shame you lost some.

Hopefully its up for a while and I can get some more data for it.

I like the colours Greg and with more data this will be a cracker!
Actually I made a start on this too some time ago, at the end of a galaxy imaging run none the less ie a fill-in image :P....must go back and complete it.

Thanks Mike. Yes its a worthwhile target. I imaged it in Ha only a few years ago and always meant to come back to it. I think it needs decent seeing as well, so a night with good seeing and the moon up would be a good time.
Greg.
Excellent work on this one Greg. Rarely imaged. Nice to see your touch on it.

Thanks John. I plan to do a more extensive image of it.

Great photo Greg.
Love the detail.

Thanks Ross. These LMC nebulas are a rich source of imaging targets for us. I see a massive rise in the number of them being imaged now which is great. Hardly any were being imaged a year or two ago beyond the Tarantula or widefield images of the LMC.

Wow! Very very beautiful! I am trying LMC, now. Maybe I get something, but never will be similar.:eyepop:

Thanks Jorge. Its a very rich area for imaging these unusual nebulas.

Really weird shapes in that nebula! I like the colour mapping. I often find Ha to red and OIII to both blue and green works well, but it doesn't work in this case.

Thanks Ray. I'll shot some more with it and post a deeper shot soon.

Unusual colors but amazing details Greg, you must have a very stable seeing to get these details at less than 0.5"/px sampling! Impressive..

Thanks Marco.
I've decided in the next moon period to do an LMC nebula's imaging spree! There are so many of these interesting nebs that are just within reach. Yes I was surprised at how sharp it was knowing how small it is.
Colour will be better on the next series - promise!

Another great image of an unusual target, you're cranking them out Greg :) I'll look forward to your LMC nebula collection and maybe I should also have a go myself.

Thanks Rolf. There are quite a lot of these interesting LMC nebulas.

still looks amazing ... wonder how many new stars will form from it ..
nice work

Thanks Matt. Its a pretty striking looking nebula. To look at it you'd have to think its forming quite a few stars.
