Hi,

Finally had a break in the cloud early this morning.
Ngc 5128 was the target and hopefully part of a mosaic I'm planning.
Seeing was not the best but I'm happy with my result.

Image update.

Worked on this a little more and managed to squeeze out a little more.

Looks very nice with your setup. It's just a big dot with mine.

That's an amazing result for such a short integration time using an unmodded DSLR.
You must have very dark skies at Penwortham?

Thanks Kevin!

The 8" f/4 packs a punch!

Thanks!

Yes, lucky to blessed with dark skies.

Thanks Laurie!

Thanks Rick!

Probably take a couple of months before I have enough data for it.

Cheers,

Justin.

Nice work Justin, looks good. Any idea whats causing the slight movement in the stars at the top left?

Thanks Andrew!

Yes, still have a little field rotation going on. I need to refine my polar alignment some more.
There's also some slight coma, even using the Type 3 baader coma corrector.

Cheers,

Justin.

Smashing image. Can't believe how much you've captured in such a short time!

Alpal - why does it surprise you that it's a unmodified camera? NGC 5128 isn't known for its H-alpha and that all you gain from modifying a DSLR.

Because some of the red end of the spectrum would still be blocked
compared to a modified camera.

I agree with others' comments, very nice image for a short total exposure time.

Grouse results Justin  definately found the outer reaches of the glow on this one, worth the extra time, yep. Dig the star colors to, see you have that worked out very well now as well ! Great stuff

Thanks Cam!

Good skies and a cooler box and you can get decent images out of a DSLR.

Thanks Ross!

Thanks David!

Thanks Bob!

I'm more confident in PS now, makes it easier to bring out the faint stuff.

Cheers,

Justin.
