Yeah, saw that, and the Mirror in the UK is running live updates as well. He was wearing a helmet but is apparently bleeding inide the brain, which is always dangerous. Hope he recovers.

I can't believe this. He was my favourite driver as a kid. :(
Get well soon Michael!
Thanks Hans,
Not good news and here is hoping he pulls through.
I watched part of the 2012 China race on Saturday evening whilst having dinner
and there was a terrific duel between he and Alonso where Michael kept
the Ferrari at bay for quite a while.
I did a double-take when I read that the accident occurred at the Meribel resort
in the French Alps as that is where four family members are at the moment and
have been the past month whilst they gained their ski instructor certifications.
They are very fast on the slopes and I am aways telling them to be careful.
Here is Michael with 307 F1 starts, seven times world champion, routinely
driven at 300km/h and has had multiple high speed crashes now fall and hit his
head on a rock skiing.
Perhaps compared to the hazard of crossing a busy road, danger can at times
be relative.
I just got an SMS back from family saying they were skiing around Merbel today
but didn't know. My guess is that like F1 drivers do, they will ignore my warning and
still go fast.

Read this earlier today, very sad. I have very fond memories of him and my childhood hero Hakkinen, really hope he pulls out ok.

Lets hope things go well for him Gary. Positive news somewhat at least. Great to hear that his friends are still calling in on him.
Watching the olympics recently and seeing quite a few athletes being severley concussed or hurt my mind would think of the outcome that has befallen Schumacher and I was worried at the fate for these fallen athletes. Not only for them immediately but also would they possibly fall into unconsiousness later. Its funny that the some of the most exhilerating and fun things to do in life exposed us to the most serious consequences.
I can remember my first experience snowboarding at falls and thinking how wonderful it was going to be. Reality struck when I fell knocking my head hard enough to give me a headache and thinking that this snow isn't fluffy and soft but damn hard.
I think everyone will be wishing him a safe recovery and that he will be returned to the world as normal as can be. Thanks for keeping us informed Gary.

 good news indeed .
Brian.
In another twist, the BBC reports that a man arrested on
suspicion of stealing and offering to sell Michael Schumacher's
medical files to the media has been found hanged in his cell in Zurich.

Good news, let's hope his recovery is as good as Richard Hammond's.
(Richards book, if you haven't read it, is an excellent read about recovering from a severe head injury)

Richard Hammond was at least inside a metal cage. Michael... well some reports from people suggest that they would be staggered if he ever talks again.
