I currently own an Orion 12inch XTG scope which includes a 2" dual-speed (11:1) Crayford focuser. Unfortunately it is near impossible to precisely focus when using any kind of camera. The focuser just will not go down enough. Another half inch or so would do it for my CCD camera.

Any idea on getting a low profile focuser in Sydney. I am going to try Bintel but if you folks have any other ideas please let me know.

Mostly I wanted to get opinions on low profile focuser's. The Crawford set up I have is great for visual but not so much for digi-scoping.

:thanx:

Nigel, I put a Feathertouch on my XT12g. It gives me a lower profile than the standard focuser so I can reach focus with my bino viewer. So may solve your issue with reaching focus with your camera. The Feathertouch has numerous spacers, adapters and base plates available so you can come up with many different configurations.

Oh, you got the binos!

How is the view?

Looking through Inmykombi's set on the weekend through the lx200 was a real 3d experience. A pair of 21 Ethos would be a great, though very heavy!

G'day Shane. The bino's are going great, they bring a whole new perspective to observing a lot of objects. You have NEVER seen the moon until you have looked at it through bino's.

What is this "Moon" you speak of?

Must be something you jetsetters see in the northern hemisphere...
