This colourful spiky little spider has been in our garden bed for a couple of days. I've never seen one like this before, does anyone have know what sort it is?
It's about 6mm in diameter, and appears to stay in the middle of the web day and night.
Cheers,
Justin.

Thanks Matt!
I googled spiny orb weavers and sure enough that's what it is.
What a glorious variation of the same species!

Even the biggest arachnophobe would have to say that is beautiful.

In western Australia we used to call them Christmas spiders. They are an orb weaver also known as a Jewel Spider.
