Merry Christmas to all!

I've imaged the cone nebula region a few times, but never thought about placing Hubble's variable nebula in the frame.
I used data taken in 2012, Nov 2013 and 23rd Dec.

From top right, clockwise.
Hubble's variable nebula.
Cone nebula.
Fox fur nebula.

It was a bit of a trick combining them with slightly different orientations.

Equipment used.
8” F/4 astrograph , baader type coma corrector,. HEQ Pro 5 mount, orion mini guider.
Camera.
Unmodded Cannon 1100D.

16 x 8 minute and 12 x 5 minute subs ISO 800 &1600, darks, flats and bias frames applied.
Stacked in Deep Sky Stacker .Processed in Photoshop 7.

Cheers,

Justin.

Looks great Justin.

Wish I could image nebula like that with a DSLR, even an FS camera, but images are so darn noisy at 30C!

Your DSLR is bog standard right? No cooling? What would you estimate the air temperature at the time of taking these pics?

Thanks Andrew!

Did you get your new 8" ?

Thanks Kevin!

Sorry, forgot to put in that I'm using a cooler box and it was around 15 Celsius outside.

Thanks Laurie!

Cheers,

Justin.

Nice shot. You definitely have an eye for framing a good image.

Gee, that's alright Justin, nice work on rarely imaged objects from southern latitudes, especially the cone area...and to gettem both in one frame - cool!

There is an ethereal feel to that image. Nicely done, not processed to Hades (maybe just to Hyades :) )

I have tried twice here. Given up due LP. Might try it NB since finally switching to mono...

Thanks Justin!

Thanks Mike!

I'm surprised this area is not imaged more, not far from the rosette.

Thanks Lewis!

Yep, it's tough to know when to stop processing sometimes.
Hope you nail it with your new setup!

Cheers,

Justin.

Great looking photo Justin.

It's a very beautiful part of the sky...great detail, colours and contrasts.

I photographed it when I was last at Coonabarabran in October.

My trashcan is full of many different versions but I'm still not happy.

You have produced it well.

Ross.
