It's not one of these comps where you have to be there at the prize draw to collect the prize, is it? ;)

Mike, you don't want to delay the draw till after the QLD Astrofest do you? .....the last thing we want is someone turning up to Duckadang with some new gear and the curse that goes along with it ;) OK - perhaps do the draw, just don't send it out to anyone till well into the following week :D :D
and its on black thursday too!!!b :P

I wont be able to attend, so I've prepared a nice video recording of me acting all surprised at winning all prizes and proceeding to thank everyone under the stars...a bit "Oscar night" style

Sorry, Mike, I can't make it.
Thanks for organising and running the competition and kudos to your sponsors who came on board. Great work.
For those of you who can attend, have a quick one for me while you are there. With a smidgin of luck you'll meet new faces and make new friends.
Good luck, all.

Well i've cut up 400 pieces of paper ready for the draw..
Noone else coming tonight? A small and intimate gathering by the looks of it :)
I won't be home until later tonight to announce the winners, as i'll be taking some photos of the city and then have to train/drive home. Pictures from the draw will be up on the site tomorrow morning.

Good on you Mike. Have a great day. Out of anything that I would leave home to "be there" this would be it. I wish I could provided more support on this venture because it was/is a great idea I hope you can organise more .. but the first is always the hardest.
anyways you are probably gone by now

Thanks Alex.
The next competition will be the 2nd birthday competition, in September.
The rules will change slightly for that one, whereby people will have to have access to the "buy/sell forum" (that is, have made 5 posts and have been a member for 1 month) before they'll be eligble to enter.
The purpose of that is to reward the community, and avoid random signups just to enter the competition.
Anyway that's a few months away, more about that later.
I'll be there Mike.
It'll be nice to catch up with everyone.
Do they serve Guinness

I love promotions.
Taking steps to reward the community is the way to go, everyone wins. Sponsors should feel very privledged to be endorsed here they have the chance of gaining market share here more than many other places, their early support wont go un noticed nor without long term divedend.. they deserve such for their support.
Your presence for all of us is a wonderful reward and to add prizes, great, there is nothing like the expectation of wining a prize..why do we continue to buy lotto tickets.. we enjoy spending those never to be won dollars as much as real ones.

Come on Mike, we are all waiting :D
Greg Bryant

We waited...I was going to make sure you got in a cab back to the airport.
Tonight's draw was a fun gathering. I think there may be a few more Full Moon catchups. Great to put a face to more fellow IIS members.
Mike is...well, he was heading off to take pics around the Harbour when we left. No sense of priorities. There was no laptop at the pub, no wireless access, no webcam, no live draw for everyone around Australia / NZ to view. :)
But there are winners, and Mike will reveal them in due course.

ditto
:D
It was a fantastic turnout at the pub for the draw.
There was between 300-400 people, we hardly had room to move.
Pitty they weren't part of our group.
Just Greg, Mike, Chris (33South) and myself.
Mike was holding the box of entries while Greg pulled out the lucky names.
I was taking out of focus photos and Chris was clapping at each entry drawn out.
It was so intense.
After the draw Mike and I went walkabout around the habour foreshore to see if we could get a photo for this months photo challange.
It's a wonder we didn't get arrested.

:eyepop: Who Won, the suspense is killing me. This is the second competition I have entered since winning $20,000 on Radio 104.5 STAR FM two years ago. Gave half to my wife for Uni studies(Master's Degree in Enviromental Science, so far )and the rest on a well celebrated birthday in the Cook Islands, absolute decadence, what a beautiful place and the natives are so friendly!!!!!
OOhh how could I forget the night skies were a delight, 9 clear nights out of 12 such an unpolluted view.

Sorry for the delay, will post a new thread imminently.
Was great catching up with Greg, Andrew and Chris again. Had a good time, and we should do it more often around full moon! :)
