Hi all,
My amazing employer surprised me with a brand new Saxon 114 appeture 900f/l Newtonian reflector on an eq mount today!!!!! He gave it to me as a Christmas bonus!!!! I was in shock:eyepop:. Now I'm going from a 60mm refractor to this and was after any advice I could get! What I can see and so on. This is obviously a lot better than my 60mm I hope???
Thanks all.:D

Nice bonus. Target objects will be a little brighter with the increase in aperature.
Are you up to speed with setting up a mount to the South Celestial Pole?

Well I'm still trying to figure that out. The instructions on how to do it are not very clear:shrug: so I'm not sure how to set that side up properly yet. Is there an easy way? And also when do you know if you need to colimate? Is this even necessary?
Thanks

I'm no expert in setting up an EQ but this IIS tutorial looks pretty good.

 Nice Boss , follow the tutorial Shark Bait pointed you to and you will be fine , its a good one .
Practice indoors with setting up and playing with the balance , with eyepiece in and once it as close as you can get it mark the OTA with a bit of white tape where the top of the top ring is along the OTA so you have a datum point to use every time .
Enjoy Daniel , great scope and any chance of a photo or 2 ?
Brian.

Thanks guys,
I will check that out soon, I have just seen Jupiter through my new scope and have been blown away with what I have seen!! Clearly saw the belts and at least 2 moons! Unbelievable! This scope is amazing, I know there is much better out there but this is a massive upgrade from my 60mm. Can't wait to get out and explore again. Thanks guys
Dan
