This is a once in rare while opportunity!

Housed at the now famous "Mt Campbell Observatory" just outside Canberra, this is a top example of an LX200GPS. Everything works and it is in excellent condition with perfect SCT optics. Setup in my observatory under a Sirius dome (also for sale)

it has been largely used for imaging for the past 2 years resulting in multiple image publications and awards!

This is one of the rare LX200GPS's that actually has the advertised pointing accuracy so every goto will land on your chip! The scope can be autoguided to "sub arc sec" accuracy even without PEC turned on! See the many great images taken with this setup at my website - there are simply no finer SCT images to be found....ANYWHERE!

Not only have award winning images been taken with this scope (see images of NGC 1365 and NGC 6520 + B86) but the scope has also been a fantastic tracking platform for piggybacking an 80mm ED refractor to take even more award winning images - see Lagoon and Trifid images at:

http://www.pbase.com/strongmanmike2002/favourite_images

All the 80ED images at my website were done with this 12" LX200GPS as the tracking platform, you just can't lose with this scope!

Visual performance is exceptional too - I've seen detail in the Great Red Spot, split a 0.6" double star, detected the Horsehead Nebula and hunted down extremely faint galaxies with the record being mag 15.3:eyepop:

I will be sad to see her go, so it must be to a good home!

The deal includes:

Complete 12" LX200GPS-SMT UHTC OTA and forks
Meade Giant Field Tripod
Meade Super wedge
Meade 12" Metal dew shield
Meade Balance weight system (cleaverly modified to be 2D)
Meade vibration isolation pads
Meade variable projection camera adapter
Meade OTA skylight/dust filter (a must)
Meade piggyback camera brackets X 2 (+ a homemade mounting rail, optional)
Meade F3.3 focal reducer + 2" adapter and extensions
Meade 1.25" screw-on visual back
Losmandy dove tail mounting system (the best!)
Losmandy balance weight system (the best!)
Losmandy camera mounting bracket for dove tail system
Bobs knobs (still in packet)
Petersons Ezy clutch (still in packet)
12V regulated power supply

That's well over $3000 worth of accessories not included with a new scope!
I am asking $7000 and the most important thing is that the scope is a "proven" superior example (why risk buying new and getting a Meade dud  )

For another $500 and to complete the package, I'll include the absolutely superb Lumicon Giant Easy guider:

http://www.lumicon.com/eg10.htm

and 90mm Losmandy piggyback guide scope rings for the dovetail system, which together are more than $1000 of extra value!

So for the same price as a new stock standard OTA and forks, you will get about $4000 worth of useful accessories and have a fantastic PROVEN system!

Various other bits and pieces may be included (free) if the buyer is interested.

This is a pickup prefered price "or" if the full asking price is paid I will bring it to you as far as Sydney (or similar distance) or else break it all down into bits and post it all to you (within Australia). However, if you are interested in this deal I would strongly recomend a pickup (will all fit in a standard sedan) and an operational inspection, to see what having your own Hubble is like! But be quick as I will have to pull her down soon (sob, sob, sniff) so a test drive will not be so easy after that.

Whats going on Mike, giving it up, or moving up to a Keck ...Pity your not selling some of the bits seperately, I understand your rational for selling the whole lot as one superbly functional unit,,good luck
