Hi Lewis

You got your guiding sorted, very tidy stars.

Bit of colour noise but when you get more data you should be sorted.

And yes, better processing

Tough crowd Lewis!.

Better throw in a :juggle: act to get them going.

Looking great Lewis

Haven't seen many images of M78, should be great once finished.

Just not used to seeing Lewis post outside the For Sale forums

Kidding aside, it's an image that shows promise. A bit noisy at present but still quite nice.

4 inch f/6.3 for a total of about 2 hours integration it will be noisey :) I have patience - lots of it. I learned it with the crap weather we always get.

I already have a Tak FSQ-106ED, a Ceravolo 300, an Astro-Physics mount and an Apogee U16M camera. It will take something pretty special to make me bite ;)

Yeah, guiding has actually been the easiest part - this Vixen GPD2 mount tracks like a mount 10 times more expensive. Do an accurate polar alignment, fire up PHD or MaxIM guiding, and go to bed. I certainly could NEVER do that with an NEQ6 or HEQ5. The Lodestar makes life easy too - never ONCE failed to find a suitable guide star.

Here's a 400% enlarged, 20 min H-a sub star grouping crop from the edge of the frame - flat IMHO, and pretty decent in concentricity (all the LRGB was either 720 secs or 480 secs - perfectly rounded stars). Seeing the ENTIRE sub looks like this, it's not field edge coma :)

Not to mention the shiny new AG12 that has never seen starlight :eyepop: positively criminal...

;)

Also, I think it time to try dithering again - may reduce the noise a little more. I used to dither, but stopped recently until I found the dither settle time adjustment in MaxIM

Yeah, but it's a Newt... :) :P

Give me time, Mike  It's tough having too many toys.

Never used to dither at all but that's all I do now = no darks necessary  but yes having an adjustable dither settle time is very useful...oh yeah the image...keep Sidonoioing it, you'll get there...

Seeing y'all dislike noise, here's a Sidonio Noise Reduced image :P

MORE DATA, PLEASE! Remove the "Plastic Surgery" noise reduction :P

No, not a lot, probably because it is quite dark. With the SXVR-M25C, I showed sweet stuff all. With the SBIG ST-8XE, it IMMEDIATELY showed detail and clear nebulosity.

The SBIG might be an old camera, but by cripes is it sensitive!
