Here is the main image that I was left with after a relative failure of an all night timelapse session.
There are 2 versions, one with fill light, one without.
I would appreciate feedback as peoples thoughts on which version is the better.
ISO 3200
f2.8
13mm
30 seconds

Both nice shots, I prefer the first, without the fill.

Thanks, I was leaning towards that one myself.

Hi Andrew,
Let me be a straight shooter, if you are truly asking for feedback. In my opinion, both images lack a bit of composition. The first one basically has significant part which is completely black which doesn't hold any information. Besides, it seems there is too much noise reduction applied on the sky. The second image is better, IMHO. The sky looks more natural, and the foreground now attracts more attention. I would perhaps only suggest to use a warmer light source for the light painting, the result would look a bit more natural.
This is just a humble opinion :) Keep up with imaging !

Awesome response, thank you!
These shots were from a failed time-lapse, so I didnt specifically frame them and the points that you raise about that framing on the first shot are what I was thinking.
It doesnt help that the sky is relatively featureless either.
And yeah, I did over do the noise reduction in the first and didnt apply to the second.
The warmth of the fill light is something that has been bothering me but I havent found a solution to that yet.
thanks for the feedback.

Ok I have added a third option.
Warmer foreground on the fill and lower noise reduction.
