Paul's very good recent posting of this patch of sky jogged memories of my recent attempt at almost the same patch of sky. Thin cloud and crappy weather
had me letting it go to next year's hit list.
I only managed 90 minutes of Luminance data in the Honders, but suspect it's worthy of a look. The opportunity to gather some colour data would have been nice....

Superb Lum. Looking forward to more data + colour. That should be epic.

Peter, that is a big big field
very nice

That's fantastic - such a good area of the sky -
our Southern galaxy cluster jewel.

Wow, look at those stars. Sublime. What a scope.
A fantastic field. NGC1365 is in an excellent imaging position at the moment so why do you say not til next year? Are their trees blocking your view of it?
Greg.

Ta Greg... well no...but the clouds sure are....plus I've only got 3 more days of "down time" before work takes me off-shore.
Indeed, a magical patch of sky
Thanks Peter...a nice thing about the RHA is the stars are beautifully corrected to the very edge of the field .
Yep. More data...but I doubt I'll match Paul's heroic effort.

Nice field Pete, in fact i really do like it more than my field. There so many more galaxies that i missed.
If though you had full automation you could be imaging while you are flying. ;)

 Thanks Paul.... but while I enjoy my hobby, the day job simply doesn't allow distractions, so I'd like to retire with full benefits intact ;)

I just meant you start the session prior to leaving the terminal and it does its thing while you are doing your thing. Not suggesting you monitor it whilst flying. If you do, just tell me so I am not in the air at the same time.:P

Peter, was the AO unit in-situ when this was taken?

Very nice, great details!

Thanks...hopefully more data soon...:cloudy:
G'day Clive...the AO wasn't attached, I grabbed the data a little over a month ago while still waiting on an adapter from Precise Parts.
OK will do :)

Great image with excellent depth.

Ah... ok.
The reason I ask is that Ray is concerned that the chromatic aberration induced by the plano element would be significant at f4. (my gut feeling is it wont) but I was wondering if you had a straight luminance image to inspect...

Thanks Allan, You (and others) might want to re-load the page....I just discovered I had used the wrong dark frame data.... much cleaner looking image now! :)

That really is smooth and Im amazed that the dark frame data made such a difference. It really is a superb image - I want your setup!.

So you want my set-up.
Sure! Every man has his price :D (just kidding....it's not for sale)
Ta. I've added some more cropped and annotated sections to the same URL (http://www.atscope.com.au/BRO/gallery282.html)...many more faint-fuzzies can be seen at full-res.

I too found this amazing having seen the first image, then I thought about it and using the wrong frame would probably make the image more noisy than not calibrating it in the first place. So it is not so surprising that with the correct one a good gain is seen.

Integrate integrate, this is one of the most lovely patch of skies for galaxy lovers! Nice preliminary light by the way, it is going to be a fantastic shot!

Thanks Marco....yes I probably need to look at revising my automation software...I could get data while sleeping!
Indeed, the wrong calibration data does it every time

Wonderful looking image for sure, that's going to be a cracker image! I love that lenticular NGC1381 btw.
How long do you think you'll go on this field?

Thanks Rolf (aka megadata guru :))...and good question...but I doubt it will be more than a few hours.
