I posted a similar image/animation of Eris a little while back... I recently upgraded my Atik 420 to an Atik 428EX CCD, with its low-noise, sensitive ICX674 chip, and wanted to see if it could do a better job.
Previously I used 20x2 min subs binned 2x2 to bring the Mag 18.7 Eris out, with the ICX674 I've used 25x1 min subs, binned 2x2, and it came out well.

This time Eris was much higher in the sky, in fact it was transiting, at an altitude of 60 deg, much higher than it was in October... so it may not be a great comparison....

Nice work Lee, Eris sure is a faint object and that is impressive shooting!

I assume these were taken with the 200mm F4 Newt?

Cheers

Dennis

That is an inspiring catch of such a faint dwarf planet, Lee.
