Road Trip!

Hey all,

I'm working out a couple of places to visit on a little road trip I'm planning over Christmas. I'm thinking of driving down to Sydney (from Brisbane), picking up a couple of mates from there and working our way back to Brisbane over a week or so.

The first and only point of call I have is http://www.coonabarabran.com/ at the moment but I figure if I was going to start in Sydney, I'd start at the Sydney observatory.

Can anyone else think of some decent must see places between Sydney and Brisbane?

Hi Matt,

If you are tracking via Coonabarabran then you might want to consider tracking
up to Narrabri to visit the Australia Telescope Compact Array.

A short distance from Narrabri is the Mt Kaputar National Park, arguably the best
observing spot in NSW. Book a stay at one of the National Parks cabins.
They are extremely reasonably priced and provide fabulous amenity and comfort.

3. Drive to Parkes (Stop in See and drive on the Bathurst track!)
4. Check out CSIRO Parkes Observatory (Camp the night)
5. Drive to Coonabarabran, check out Observatory
6. Drive to Siding Spring Observatory and check it out (Camp the night)
7. Drive to Narrabi and check out Australia Telescope Compact Array
8. Drive to Mt Kaputar Nationa Park - Rent a Cabin.
9. Drive to Brisbane.
