I've had it circled on the calendar to attend.

The current weather forecast for Sydney on Friday is for showers and on
Saturday, possible showers in the morning and partly cloudy.
Winds 25km/h to 40km/h.
Sunday and Monday are also currently forecast to be partly cloudy.

I will try to attend, obviously weather dependent. Have to find that map.

Can't make this one as I have another " do " to attend on Saturday night.
Its getting too busy for m this time of year. Too many things getting in the way of observing time :(

7 Timer looks OK but mediocre transparency. Haven't been out in months so will take anything.
Good day for a BBQ at the PC ????

absolut
30-11-2013, 09:09 AM
Yeah, I was looking at 7Timer... the radical shift in seeing by 8pm looks a little scary. I thought it might be mist or fog... if we think it's worth a go, I'm in!

I'll check in around 4pm and see if there is any news.

Shano592
30-11-2013, 09:35 AM
It seems to be looking more an d more promising as the day progresses.

Aside from hazy seeing and not-so-good transparency, it looks like it may be an ok night. Surely better than last month... it is really hard to see through thick cloud.

Bare in mind attendees, that the temp looks like it will be around 11 degrees by midnight. Come prepared.

Who has the garbage bag(s) for the toilet window?

I had thoughts of attending, but the weather is looking rather iffy from Pt Clare. Let's see how things pan out....

John Bambury was planning to come, but he has had to fill a shift at work at short notice. Hopefully another time John!

Allan

It's still hissing down here and 8/8 cloud, so I'm going to make other plans.

If tonight doesn't work out for you guys, I am around next weekend for another try. Cheers everyone.

Its just stopped raining here, and the sun is out intermittently, but rain radar still shows showers around Camden moving north. I am doubtful about good conditions tonight but maybe we need a report from further down around Gosford. Sort of leaning towards Allan's suggsstion of next weekend.

Not looking too flash from here so I think I might pull the pin on tonight and hope for something maybe next week too. :(

Hey,

It's been mostly sunny for a good chunk of today.

Astropanel is still showing the same forecast.

Are we still a go or no go for this evening?

Thanks

Rob

DEFINITELY OFF for the 30th November

The Pony Club Treasurer just rang me to inform they are using the facilities themselves tonight.

Sorry for Late notice.

Lets see what Saturday 7th December brings ...

Damn its turned out to be a wonderful night up here. Just been out with the binoculars looking at Jupiter, with one bright moon at 10 o'clock, the LMC, SMC and their various clusters, and Orion neb of course. Really wanted to roll the 16" out but i'd have to move the car to get it out. Should have checked abit earlier before I opened the Glenlivit.

I'm still keen

On Friday the 6th the moon sets at 21:49; on Saturday the 7th it sets at 22:33. Admittedly this is a very partial moon with first quarter not until the 10th of the month.

As I would have to leave by 10:30pm I would be doubtful for this one.

Allan_L
04-12-2013, 04:53 PM
Hmm!
I could be tempted...
Could be a good chance to share a Christmas spirit or too {bad grammar intended!}
Whether the weather comes to the party, this is the question.
Oh, and Who is bringing Charlotte?
:reindeer::reindeer::reindeer: :xmas: :reindeer:

...and my van is back on the road, so i can provide some basic amenities (if the local amenities are again like unobtainium)

Edit:
I have sent an email request to the Secretary Pony Club to ask if the site is available for us this Saturday.
and if we could please have some access to facilities.
As the Pony Club had a Christmas do last week, so
it could be possible the Jump Club may have theirs this week.
Fingers crossed

I followed up my email by an SMS message today.
This was the reply from Club Secretary:

[So, no mention of other issues raised, like the light being left on or the toilets being made available]

However,
Weather looks relatively good for Saturday night. (and tonight !)
Crescent moon does not set until about 11:30pm, BUT it is only at 20%.

I am up for the trip, who wants to join me

Allan

Just a bit of cumulus around here, nothing to worry about.

I am bringing my BBQ to cook pizza if anyone wants to borrow it.

Allan_L

Time for a roll call / vote

7timer still says clear skies (although less than ideal)

I am happy to go with the consensus.

Where did the day go?

Yikes, running a little behind schedule...
I think I'll be grabbing a quick bite somewhere along the way, haven't had time to prepare anything for a BBQ... /sigh

Looking like 7:30pm arrival (optimistically).

Cya there!

Have had a gastro bug over the past 24 hours - for the sake of germ containment, and for the the greater good, I will be the sacrificial lamb and stay at home.

Looks like it could be a ripper of a night. Enjoy!

Allan_L
08-12-2013, 08:42 AM
Sorry to hear you were not well Rod, hope you feel better today.
But as you said yes we enjoyed a Ripper of a night.

A small but good turn out.
Six of us (Inmykombi, Rick, Joe, Rob, and Allan{other}, and myself) enjoyed fine fare and spirits with an occasional DSO during the long descent of the moon.
After moon-set the skies yielded a plethora more detail, welcoming many old favourites with some new delights intermingled.

Thanks to all for your company.

Gates were locked at 2am.

With wishes for a Safe and Happy Christmas break to all our readers. :reindeer:
...'til next time. :hi:

Big thanks to Al for your summary of the night mate, my feelings exactly.
Best wishes to all, it was a great night to finish off the year and look forward to all your company next year.:)
