Hail car cover

Can you guys recommend a good one?

I don't have a commercial one, but I cover the outside car (seeing we can only fit one car in the garage) with doubled over wool blankets for the glass, a shag-pile carpet for the roof, bonnet and rear plus a water proof tarpaulin and car cover to cover all that. So far - touch wood - no dents.

I have considered using the high density foam rubber, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I probably will.

I had a couple of blankets on my car last night. :lol:
Most storm proof covers are in the $200-$300 ball park. I reckon I might buy a thin standard cover and a bunch of gym mats from ebay. You can get 15 for less than $100 these days.

Head for foam rubber shop like "Foam Booth" or Clark Rubber and buy a piece of high-density 12mm foam, large enough to protect your car, and keep it rolled up in the boot.

Wife's yoga mat is big enough for our car :)

When in Queensland I used cable ties to connect 7 gym matts together with a nylon cover over the top. I punched round holes through the closed cell foam and used long cable ties to form loose loops so the whole stack could still be folded up zigzag fashion. Worked like a charm.

That's not a wing, it is a tail, so I guess you could say he is faster as he has a tail wind! :lol:

Perhaps a tad overkill (you can never be too sure though) but I found this quite effective :shrug:...good for small meteors too.

Storm on its way into Sydney now.

The State Emergency Service has advised residents to move their cars under cover
or away from trees, and to secure loose items around their houses, yards and
balconies.

Looking at the RADAR right now, there are some black colored patches within the deep
red which is often a tell-tale sign of hail.

Good idea. I might try that. It's really dark here now but the wind is blowing from the north so we're just on the edge it and it's passing us by south. Fingers crossed.

Yep things are great in the outback at the moment.
Cant remember the last storm here just get sick of washing dust off the car so basically thats a waste of time.
I wish we could get a storm out here but theres nothing on the horizon.
Anyway keep all that gear undercover you lot.

I bought a large sized, AUTOTECHNICA brand for my Hyundai Sportswagon.
The local FM Spares has them.
It cost around $200.00.

Hopefully I'll never have to use it.

I hate hail.

Ended up getting rubber foam from clark rubber. 2x4m. They sell by the linear metre off the roll. 2m wide about 10mm thick. Dense enough.
